Training to Build Wellness and Resilience
The Miami-Dade Police Department is proud to host the Armor Your Self™ Wellness Workshop presented by John Marx from the Law Enforcement Survival Institute on September 27, 2019. This workshop is based upon the resilience textbook Armor Your Self: How To Survive A Career In Law Enforcement. Learn to build wellness and resilience for your Self, your agency, your family and your community.

The Armor Your Self™ project is a powerful concept that will begin building the foundations of law enforcement health and wellness for your personnel, your families and for your organization. The program is taught as a Resilience Research Learning Laboratory with all the participants researching, discussing and learning information that is specific and important to them.

Participants will find the tools they need to recognize the symptoms of the toxic effects and hidden dangers of a career in law enforcement. Each participant will create an action plan to thrive and flourish in life and their career. They will also build a plan to help their family, peers, team and organization. Our Armor Your Self™ workshop includes eight hours of exploration about how each participant can begin strengthening and conditioning their “Self” physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. They will also learn how to strengthen agency support systems, condition our law enforcement culture for wellness and improve our police/community interactions.

The Armor Your Self™ Wellness Workshop is not a “sit and listen” lecture but rather a highly interactive session where each participant does individual research, engages in group discussions and develops their own personalized Tactical Resilience™ Action Plan to improve their lives, the lives of their family and peers and also the health and resilience of their agency and community as a whole.

In our 8-hour Armor Your Self™ Wellness Workshop you will learn:

  • About the “Hidden Dangers” that are killing more LEO’s than bullets
  • To define resilience and how it can impact your life and career
  • The 7 Key Factors necessary for building Tactical Resilience™
  • To create a plan not just to survive but to thrive
  • How our law enforcement culture might be killing you
  • About the Concept of True Blue Valor™ to muster the courage to help an officer in crisis
  • To write a plan to help your Self, your peers, your family, your agency and your community
